Our Wal-mart sold out the last week of August. They didn't even put anything on sale!
I thought I might be able to get something cheap, but noooooo everyone is canning around here.
I was carrying a brand new box of pint jars into my house and I DROPPED it onto the cement driveway!!!
Thankfully I only lost 3, but I managed to cut my finger and get a piece of glass into my shoe.

IDK
I think she meant the new jars/with lids I bought were Kerr jars and the new lids they come with are somehow not strong enough for pressure canning.
But I bought a box of Ball lids and used them on my new jars and I haven't had any more problems.
Been having alot of trouble with...

I did 9 pints of chili beans and they all sealed, whew.
I seem to have a bit of problems with seals this year. More this summer than all the years I've been canning. Could the quality be going down hill on the lids? I know I'm not

Yes, you can boil the brine for pickles in stainless steel. It's not that acidic.
Do you have a Ball Blue book or a canning book? I would highly suggest getting one or checking at your library for one. It's nice to have all the basics of canning and some proven recipies to try.

Yes- it would need to be pressure canned, because it is low in acid.
From Ball's Blue Book-
Relative Position Of Various Foods On pH Scale
Strong Acid - Process in a Boiling water canner

2 High Acid Foods
Lemons
Pickles
3 Gooseberries
Apricots
Plums
Apples, Blackberries

Insiderart - Yummy! Those pickles look GOOD!
I'm canning peaches and more peaches. I ran into a little problem. The peach halves were too big to fit in my jars (I could fit one peach in a pint and 2 in a quart ), so I had to slice them.
I tip them upside down and I take the rings off of them. Except that I have 2 jars of chile, 1 jar of jam and 1 jar of soup that I can't get the ring off of!!!
I need someone really strong!
Where is that recipe for banana butter?
I couldn't find it either. It was either on here or SS, but now I can't find it!
I just used the apple butter recipe from the Ball Blue book -
For every pound of fruit add 1 cup of sugar.
Crush the bananas with a potato masher and cook slowly until...
Ok - Who posted the banana butter recipe?
It is sooooooooooo good! I just made a huge batch. There were 2 large bags full of bananas for 99 cents each at the grocery store tonight and I bought both of them.
It's like banana bread in a jar!
I also made peach salsa - Yummy! And HOT!

Mmmm, yum! Can't wait for the dilled zuchinni recipe!
I'm thinking about entering some things in the county fair, but I didn't want to take over this thread so I started a new one https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2619791#p2619791
Have you ever entered anything into the fair?
I just got back from a berry picking vacation.
Last night we canned Currant/raspberry jelly, raspberry jelly, and gooseberry jam.
Tonight we will do the blueberries and black raspberries!
And hopefully the 5 gallons of cherries in the freezer.
