I have 18 out of 26 hatched so far. I have four more with their little beaks hanging out of holes taking their sweet time. And I have 4 that I can't even see a pip. Never had this happen..bc well it's only my second hatch. Should I leave them be a little longer?? I opened the incubator once...

Best Valentine's Day gift ever!! I woke up this morning to around 10 pips and a whole bunch of little chirps!! Too bad I have to go to work...I won't be surprised a bit if there is more than one chick running around my bator when I get home at 3:00. Super eggcited!! :)

Well it was exactly 21 days at 6:35 pm and not even a pip. :( I guess they didn't get the memo. I have a Brinsea and it has a cooling setting. Last time I had it set to cool for two hours a day and my chicks all hatched promptly on the morning of Day 23. This time I changed the setting to cool...

That should work. It's always better to have the humidity a little too high than too low. When are you due to hatch?

45% Relative Humidity. I have heard that maran eggs like a lot of humidity. I don't know if that is true or not. In lockdown I have it up to 65% with the air vents open.

Lockdown day woot woot!! Everything looks good. I have 26 of 29 maran eggs developing nicely! I had three that never developed so I threw them out and they must have gotten scrambled during shipping. How's everyone else coming along?

I have not tried yet, I have heard that they are really hard. Here is a good video someone recommended to me. Basically your looking for a distinct separation of dark and light, but you have to wait until after day 5 or 6. I put one white egg in my incubator just so I could monitor how far...

Yup sounds like a humidity issue probably near the end. On day 18 you have to get the humidity up to 65% relative humidity and not open the incubator at all until theyve all hatched. If you do the humidity drops so fast it makes that membrane very rough and pretty much shirnk wraps the chicks...

You and me both!! I just put 29 Black copper, black, blue and splash maran eggs in my incubator! Only my second time hatching AND my first time with shipped eggs. 14 shipped and 15 from a local breeder. I'm super eggcited..but I'm on day 5 and it's pretty boring. Just add some water now and then.
