I didnt see this post before. I just put 24 Black Copper, Blue Copper and splash eggs in today. This is only my second time trying to hatch... I cant wait!
Hope your hatch goes well. I had 9 from my birds, and 15 mailed in.You and me both!! I just put 29 Black copper, black, blue and splash maran eggs in my incubator! Only my second time hatching AND my first time with shipped eggs. 14 shipped and 15 from a local breeder. I'm super eggcited..but I'm on day 5 and it's pretty boring. Just add some water now and then.

Im using a LG with a fan. My first hatch didnt go so well. From what I have read, I think I didnt have enough humidity. Out of 17 eggs, I only had one hatch. I opened 5 other eggs up and found fully formed and feathered chicks that couldnt get out...and the membrane was very tough.Good luck with yours as well! What kind of incubator are you using? How did your first hatch go?

Hoping this time around goes much better.. Now that I have a roo, I hope to do a few this year to try and get this whole hatching thing figured out.
have you found anything that works good to candle these dark Marans eggs?Yup sounds like a humidity issue probably near the end. On day 18 you have to get the humidity up to 65% relative humidity and not open the incubator at all until theyve all hatched. If you do the humidity drops so fast it makes that membrane very rough and pretty much shirnk wraps the chicks. Hopefully this one goes better.I have heard Marans need a lot of humidity..![]()
