Poulin Grain at TLC in West Greenwich
We just called over to TLC landscaping in West Greenwich, and they're now carrying Poulin grain. This is nice, since our local distributor (T&J Grain) closed up shop a few years ago. The price is actually a few cents per 50 lb bag than TSC's price for their...
I wouldn't expect you'd be looked down on. If you want, you can always grab a few seed packets from the store and bring those. I will probably grab some packets to contribute, but don't have anything I've saved myself to contribute.
This is my first time attending the seed swap, Revive the Roots is a great organization. They are into permaculture gardening, but also very into being a "community commons" for people in the community to gather. I may bring some seeds, but I probably won't bring any home. Even with that being...

I just ordered some hens from Koops Coops in Tiverton (picking up March 26th). They have leghorns listed on their web site - you'd need to check their hatching schedule to see when they'd have them available.

The other option is I'd imagine Tractor Supply will be...
If someone could breed a rooster who's crow stopped at the property line, then we wouldn't have problems. Sadly, no breed meets these requirements to my understanding. :D
You'll be hard pressed to find more expensive farmland than in RI, so if you're looking to buy, this is probably the...
Most of the animal control officers in this area of the state (I’m in WG) work on a complaint basis only…they aren’t out looking for offenses.
So…making friends with the neighbors is good policy (a free dozen eggs every now and then goes a long way).
Yeah, that's how it starts. I started with 6 chickens and a 3 x 5 coop. Now I have four coops (the largest is 20' x 8'), plus the chicken tractor. In the spring, I'm looking to get back up to (or a bit over) my high water mark of 70 birds. Chicken math. It's a whole thing.
I'm in West Greenwich.
I like the coop. I bought it for what I thought was a very reasonable price without really a plan to use it, but knew I couldn't pass it up.
Right now I've only two chickens in it, but I bet it'd fit 4-5 comfortably. If I just wanted them to pick at the grass a bit, I'd move them every day or...
It's fairly quiet on here, for sure. Although I did manage to buy the pinkest chicken tractor ever on here last summer. You should have seen me driving down 295 with it in the back of my little pickup truck! I can only imagine that the only reason I didn't get a ticket was that the police wanted...
Hello RI Chicken Tenders!
Does anyone raise chicks and sell "point of lay" hens? I'm going to be in the market for a good number of them come spring, and figured I'd try here before I went to Craigslist.
If you're going to be raising chicks, would love to hear about costs, quantities...
Used 18-pack egg cartons free in West Greenwich
My egg carton source is out performing my flocks current performance, but I don’t want to stop the inflow.
So, I’ve got some extra used 18-pack egg cartons (mix of paper and plastic) I’m happy to share for free if you’re willing to pick them up...
5/23/2020 - Free Baby Cereal in West Greenwich
I did my usual food waste pickup today, and they'd told me they had some expired baby cereal for me, and they weren't kidding.
I'm going to pick up the rest tomorrow (5/23) of the PALLET AND A HALF of baby cereal.
I'll be mixing with water and...
So, is the experiment to see how often once in a blue moon is? Or are you just looking for eggs and hoping they'll hatch.
If it's the first one, post your results as I'd be interested to follow along! If you're just looking to hatch, there are lots of folks in RI who sell fertile eggs...
