Haven't been on here in over a month. Busy with school and then just relaxing before I started back to school yesterday. Hope everyone is doing good. I have all 6 hens laying now and begins the wait on my barred rocks and easter eggers, sometime in October, I'm hoping.
I started up a new...
My RIRs have just started laying last week and they clear all the hay out the nesting boxes as well. I haven't had any broken eggs from them, but Ms. Piggy, my BA, has had cracked eggs everyday because she goes in there right after the RIRs are done. I just think her eggs are not as hard yet. I...
I finally got my first egg today! It was about time, all my girls are 29 weeks.
I was starting to think that my 4 week old babies would lay eggs before them.
We were going to build a tractor for the baby chicks, but we ended up just building a separate area in the run for them to go into until they are big enough to be added to the flock. Here are some pictures of them all in there.
Notice the older hens on top, they thought that we built a...
We are having the same problem with the wetness. When we planned out where the coop and run would go, it was on a higher part of the yard, but I think nothing is safe with all of the rain we have got. I plan to add soil or sand to their run as well to make sure it doesn't get so wet next time...
It's nice out this way. I'm about 45 minutes south from Camp Lejeune. Sounds like a really great opportunity. I had a midwife for my first delivery at Womack Army Hospital back in 1999. Good luck with finding a new vehicle, we had the same thing happen to us about three months ago.
They are in a run. They have never been out of there. I have fake eggs in the nesting boxes and they go up in the nesting boxes all the time. I have the run and coop secured so nothing can get in or out. I worry alot about predators, so we check for anything that might be loose or out of the...
Hi everyone! I can't believe my babies are 3 weeks old now. I do believe that I was sent at least one barred rock roo, even though I ordered all females. Here are some pictures...
Daffodil my EE
Cadbury my other EE
This is the one I believe is a roo, we call him Mr. Stripey

I wish I could, but I just don't have somewhere to put the babies. The ones that I have in the brooder now are almost 3 weeks, I think it would be problem to put them all together. I'm about 2 hours away, but I love going out for a drive, once in awhile.
Sorry I can't help with any of that...
Good morning everyone!
I don't post much on here, but I usually don't have much going on. I just usually enjoy reading all the posts and taking in all the information. I have learned so much from everyone the few months I have been on here. Keep all the great information coming.
On another...
Wow! I didn't realize you had so many. I thought I was starting to have too many, with 6 outside and 8 babies inside. I do plan eventually to have several different breeds, but that is for the future, I have to finish getting my degree first. Then comes a job making money, so I can afford them all!
Since it was a beautiful day we decided to take the babies outside to play. They loved every minute of it! They are growing so fast, each day they looked like they have doubled in size.
Sorry to hear about that! I don't know anything about bobwhites, but maybe they will return? If I hear or see anything about jumbo bobwhites I'll let you know.
