    I can't even imagine how messy ducks would be getting shipped. They are so filthy to keep in a brooder. I plan on getting out of the Rouens and focus on Swedes. They are the more endangered of the two. Will be selling my adults as soon as I know I have at least one Swede drake out of 4 ducklings :)

    well correction- A couple hours ago I expanded number 6's pipped whole about twice it's size and went check just now it has hatched. Is still wet, icky and attached to the shell but otherwise looks ok :)

    Number 8 is fine, just put it in the brooder with the others. It jumped out of the incubator so figured it was ready. number 6 not so sure. Prolly going to try it help hatch in a few hours, it has made zero progress but is still alive and moving some.

    doesn't surprise me you're confused as egg 6 should have been due the 28th and didn't pip till the 30th whereas egg 8 was due the 29th and pipped the 29th. Will give 6 another day before helping it. It's still steady moving its beak so hopefully it progresses

    So egg 8 wasn't making any good progress really. It was looking dryer and dryer so I helped it out. It looks ok just acting real weak. Egg 6 still just has it's little pip with a little beak showing. So I put 11 original duck eggs in. 1 was infertile, 1 got ring of death first week. 1 died...

    Lawdy it is humid. Went for a walk to the grocery store at 7am and am still soaked with sweat ! Egg 8 has made progress and should be hatching soon, still no pip from egg 6 and upside down egg I'm considering just chucking since no sign of life.

    Egg 8 has progressed a bit so should hatch while I sleep I'd guess. Egg 6 still no external pip grrr, I swear that potential duckling is lazy. The ducklings are all doing well. Peeping up a storm. The blue swedes are getting huge. They are about a week old I believe.

    Even if it were out for several hours eggs take cool down way better than overheating. I'm betting 90% or more are absolutely fine.

    Ok so candled and the one that pipped is actually the youngest egg(egg 8) and is actually due today so right on time. egg 6 is still moving but hasn't moved any further into the air cell yet but has internall pipped it. Saw absolutely no movement now in upside down egg except a few air bubbles...

    I personally find the "broom stick" or rabbit ringer methods to be the most humane and least messy overall.

    Still no pipping action on any of the final 3, the upside down one's shell is turning dark and icky looking but when I candle it is still alive These last three are being slow pokes I tell ya.
