Quote: That is so cool! I used a supplier from GA last year and I loved my bees, but UPS has been giving him grief about the shipping and now shipping alone is $250.00. I will likely go with a supplier from IN and go and pick up the bees myself. Also, hopefully my bees right now will make it...

Quote: Mine was about $300. Bees alone were $150.00 That sounds about right, although I will probably be getting a good deal on the bees since my bee club will be placing a large group order for the whole class. That is so cool! I used a supplier from GA last year and I loved my bees, but...

I winterized my bee hive yesterday and I am happy to say all my little friends are still alive and well. Great storage of honey for the winter. I did add a sugar water dispenser though so they have extra if they need it. Now they only need to hang on for the next 3-4 months

I inspected my one and only hive last weekend (my 1st year) and I have found that I have many bees and tons of honey. I have placed both deep supers a while ago (they are completely filled now) and now added a screen for the queen and a honey super for my own honey supply. I am torn whether I...

Quote: 1) The deal with plastic foundation is that it needs to be wax coated for them to draw it out. If not enough beeswax is covering foundation they can be picky about drawing it out. Some bees don't care either way. I use waxed black Pierco in my honey supers with no problems. Wax sheets...

Quote: Hey McGoo, thank you for your help. My worry at this point is that I already ordered bees but I have a funny feeling the guy is trying to rip me off. First the bees became more expensive overnight, now he calls me and tells me that my shipping cost will be an additional $71 but that he...

Alright, I have been looking over this thread to find some answers to my questions and I am terribly sorry if I overlooked it but could you please help me answer a question or two since I am a novice? 1. Could you share your experiences with me regarding plastic foundations vs. wire crimp wax...
