A new section of the forum has been opened, this one is for us 'average Joes' to talk about the breed in general, the other forum is for people breeding exhibition quality birds. Looking for honest critique, you know the sort "Don't breed that bird, remove it from the line, it's back is too...
I have only ever received one lot of eggs in the mail and although they were packaged very well they were the recipients of above mentioned drop kick. Lost 5/12 Coronation Sussex thanks to Mr Mailman. Some I could still spot the bullseye in too :(
Hahahaha, all I seem to be able to raise are cockerels!
I know I should be happy we have some healthy girls but we have hatched out MANY little cockerels along the way. I am going to need a bigger freezer!
Red, red and more red starting to come through. hey both feathered out differently, but in the end they have about the same size and coloured head junk!
I will try get some pics of our two Coro's soon. They are all gangly and teenagery now, but the lav collars are visible in them both now.
Pretty sure there is no pullets among the pair though :(
Geeze, so if we have two boys it's going to take a few seasons to have some breeding Coro pullets. I didn't realise the Coro was a Lav gene. Knowing that changes things a bit for us, going to have to think about that some more.
Thanks for the info, was some great detail.
We have some grey neck feathers just starting to sprout!!!!
We thought we had a pair, but now leaning towards two males :( One will have a home no matter what, fingers crossed for a pair still.
Ah that makes sense, I think I read that over the page too.
Was not sure if it split like blue/splash and black or if the black just diluted to somewhere between silver and black.
Our chicks have nice little wing feathers coming in, very big chicks too, bigger than I am used to seeing with...
Great revival Fancy, I just saw it pop up on the home page refresh.
As it happens, we not long ago hatched two of King George's chicks :)
I think they are a stunning variety, we already have two 'light' pullets, as long as at least one of the two new ones grows up a girl we will be happy :)
