I've been having very good luck with it this year. I got the feel for it now and I can keep a temp. Holding tight between 99.5 and 100. Been through 4 more hatches with it and right now I have turkeys hatching next weekend. Pretty decent bator. It would be a great one if the thermostat work.

I was thinking about building one out of a small refrigerator. Pack extra insulation everywhere I can. Use the power cord for my heating element and some more for the turner and fan. Of course I would have to put in an observation window and some ventilation. I found this thermometer with...

It looks like I had 11 viable eggs. 3 have not hatched. That's not to bad. The next time I set eggs I'm getting a thermometer with high and low temperature alarms. If it gets to 101 alarms go off. Drops to 98 again, alarms go off. The FI 4200 was a serviceable unit. I'd set eggs in it again. As...

Nice fuzzballs Loghousemom, It looks like I'll have a hatch-rate over 50%. I had one more chick hatch that came a bit to early. It still had some of the yolk sac and is very weak. It looks a little better this morning, but its got some dried up goop on its buttocks. Looks a little like poopy...

I know how that goes. I bought 6 turkey eggs that failed. It wasn't the incubators fault though. But Ive learned my lesson on buying eggs through Ebay.

Good luck Clay. It's not the best bator, but if you keep an eye on it it will do the job.

Just had a OEGB hatch. Tiny little chick. He's healthy and active right out of the shell. Here's a picture of the first wave.

When I woke up this morning there was 7 very fat and healthy chicks. 4 Araucana's, 1 Australorp, and 2 Buff Orp/Australorp mix. I have 3 or 4 OEGB eggs, 1 Aracauna, and 1 more mix left. I'm taking all the hatched chicks out today. I read in another thread that you shouldn't until they all hatch...

Another hatched. It got a little help from it's brother or sister. It was pecking and pulling at the membrane then the chick popped out. This one is good and fat like the others but had a little blood at the umbilical. Seems to be Ok though.

5 chicks so far. Chicks being hatched has raised humidity to over 90 percent. Both plugs already out. Gonna try and crack the lid a hair to bring it down.

Got up this morning to check temps and humidity's. Temps on the money,Humidity was at a very good range. I struggled with temps last night after lockdown. I put cool water in the reservoir without thinking and it took awhile for everything to stabilize. I could hear chirping...a lot of...

I just put them in lockdown. We candled all of them. All the Turkey eggs were not fertile...they were mail order eggs (EBAY). Only 2 chicken eggs were no goes. But Guess What? One is already pipped. Almost all you could hear chirping/peeping. We are at best 2 days early here, maybe 3. They all...

I go on lock-down tonight. When I get home from work, It's time to take out the turner and crank the humidity up a bit. A little anxious here.

All I've been needing to get the humidity up to 50/55% is 2 or 3 eye droppers full of water. I have to do this nearly every day. If I was you I would experiment with your incubator for a week to 10 days. I would experiment with a sponge. I was thinking about putting a damp sponge in a ziplock...

COOL Sassy, Proof that this incubator works, and with a respectable hatch rate. I hope my hatch rate is close to yours. I have 5 turkey eggs , 4 OEGB, 5 Aracauna, a couple Australorp, and a couple Australorp/Buff Orp mixes. All are due at the same time, I got like 12 or 13 days left to go.

I candled my turkey eggs at 7 or 8 days last night. I was not impressed. 5 out of the 6 I couldn't tell anything. couldn't make out any veining. One I saw the inside sloshing around. I cracked it open in a dish. It was an infertile egg. I hope the rest are viable and alive and I just cant see...

Using the wiggler I can see how the egg internal temps and air temps differ. Yesterday I came home from work. It was a hot day so the incubator got a little hot. I have hi/lo readings on both thermometers. The incubator air temp started at 99 and went up to 101.9. Not for long. maybe 45 min. to...
