Agreed.
Such little amount of space is just not right. Yes, I assumed something similar in my OP post, but honestly now I’ve come to realize that space is probably the #1 most important thing when it comes to chicken keeping
I am unsure too. People tell me different things. I spend a lot of time watching my flock and sitting in it with them, and I feel like two or three more hens would be okay when I took out that snap lock in the back.
Like I said I’m unsure. I just want to do what’s best for my flock while also...
Yes all but my one retired hen lay. Yes the sleep in it, no there’s probably not enough room, it was a big mistake to listen to the ad which claimed space for up to 15 hens.... I’m working on something bigger right now, I hope you understand :)
Happened to me too, unfortunately :(
I will build as big as I can as long as I don’t cross any price boundaries, and I will see what I can come up with. Chances are I’ll be adding to the duck flock once it is established, since I’ve done that every single time I’ve kept new birds. So of...
Actually, not what I’ve said exactly. As with this whole duck project being planned for a while, there’s so much going on it would be hard to add a new chicken coop into the mix. However, I’m going to run it by them, and see what I can do. After all, I am going to have to build/buy a coop for...
Thank you! I really was at a loss for what to floor their run with..
Another question: What size pond liner would be good for 4 ducks? I know you should always plan ahead, so in case I add to my duck flock one day, let’s talk maybe a size for 6 ducks. Just curious :)
I do really like that coop idea, it seems like a good use of space. As for ducks, I understand that. I’m in the process of trying to figure out some sort of coop that would work for them, which I will attach to a secure extension on the run. Meanwhile, I’ve ton a buttload of research in duck...
I wasn’t home and I couldn’t at the time, and just did my best.
What I meant was adding more chickens to the run, not the coop, and getting a new coop if both ideas are approved by the overlords :)
I would decide how many chickens would fit *comfortably* in the run, and base the coop size off...
Not right now, as the sand got wet and it doesn’t make great dust bath material. But once I put in something new, I’m hoping they take notice to them :)
