It doesn't have to be time consuming ... but a bright flashlight and you can see you have development or not... air cells are developing and humidity does/doesn't need adjustment. To Be Honest, if you set it and forget it, and your humidity is too high for those eggs, the air cells are too...

I agree! When I pictured not candeling, I lost interest in hatching altogether. I love the development & hatch more than the chicks, TBH. However, I don't spend much time candeling, I know what im looking for, by now. Most of the time, I can peek from above & trace.

I've read it's a known flaw. I've also seen a fix for it, but there is no diagram and I'm not sure I can do it with only the explanation :he -- I have 2 octagons also

The Octagon cradles are known to have an issue. But I like the design. I'm disappointed they don't sell them anymore.

Okay, we would only be guessing because we don't have it, I'm sorry.

Brinsea did not do the study that was from a University. There are quite a few actually--enough that is valid and of course repeatable. Yes-- I misspoke ... it was based on a study, of course

No idea... I don't know this bator. You can look to see if it's listed in the incubator reviews -- what's it called? My thought isn't so much that it will break. Apparently, people have hatched an egg with a light bulb before (I don't recommend it-- but I applaud their success and would have...

THANKS FOR THR DISCLAIMER!!! I know that Brinsea has their cooling option to imitate the hen moving off the nest. According to their information, their study shows that this increased hatch rates, after -- was it day 7???

There you go... was just thinking ... I bought a set of glass droppers and could use one of those instead. It would reduce my waste too!

An incubator that is not even expensive can make you feel much more successful. A poorly made one often ends in frustration. On this site there are reviews of different incubators, somewhere!

Dry hatch is successful for many people.

Also, in case someone is flipping the egg: I received some lovely eggs with such small air cells (whoohoo so rare with shipped eggs to get decently fresh!). When I candled and drew my initial air cells on before setting, I couldn't even find some (after waiting a day). For those, I put the small...

I can never get that horrible nutridrench dropper to get even close. I always have to put it on the tip of my finger and wipe it on the beak. I give it to all hatchlings before they go from incubator to brooder.

Do you mean that's the day you set them? If so, Pyxis is correct: after first 24 hours, that's Day 1. I have hatched horrible saddled air cells. There are tricks in babying them. I do not hatch them upright. If air cells don't have a very clean line, upright for probably a day (during...

On the same note as Pyxis... not sure how new you are, & don't want to seem condescending: did you count the first 24 hours as day 0? To be honest-- when I'm busy, I could miscount & all the apps I have count incorrectly. I'm thinking your temps are good if they are rocking. So tell them to...
