    Does it hurt the orps to pull the vent area feathers? Mine are getting messy and its winter here so I can't wash them or they'll freeze. Maybe cut the feathers? What do you do?

    Yes it seems like they've gained 2 lbs in one month! They're filling out quite a bit and just coming out of their final molt. Can't wait to get my first egg! I have jubilees, gold laced orps, and partridge brahmas, barnevelders, and langshans that are the same age. So we will see who lays first...
