Does it hurt the orps to pull the vent area feathers? Mine are getting messy and its winter here so I can't wash them or they'll freeze. Maybe cut the feathers? What do you do?

we trimmed ours & it worked well

I got him from a breeder of a lot of breeds and all the possible parents were solid looking

could be from one of his grandparents or even further back
give him some hens & see what you get for offspring
if you don;t like the look then maybe he isn't good for breeding
but you may get a chick that looks different then the rest
i guess u will find out
