Rollaway nest box in winter

We’re finishing up our coop for our young hens that will start laying late this summer. As I’m looking at nest box options I’m considering a manufactured rollaway nesting box that will have the rear mounted collection to allow us to collect eggs from outside the coop.
I live in Minnesota and winters get very cold, so I’m wondering if this would result in a higher likelihood of eggs freezing? Anyone with experience with these boxes in cold winters that may have any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

That is a really good question! I live in No Texas where we can get some cold winters (not like you of course) but I always try to get out to the coop when it is in the 30's and below and get the eggs asap. I use the Olba Cozy nest boxes. I think they are fantastic and could keep your eggs warmer if the rollaway nesting boxes are not an option for you. Good Luck!

If you will have electricity to the coop for heated waterers you could also plug in a few heat pads for the nesting boxes.

The temperatures inside the coop is much the same as outside unless one adds heat.

I am in Canada I much prefer collecting eggs from inside the coop than outside.

This is what I was going to say. I've seen people use those heated seed starter mats. You could also try insulating the area that the eggs roll into (since they're pretty warm when first laid), then collect ASAP.
