Quick update lol, finally built some nest boxes. I'd gone and made the top row first...12"x12" square and a sloped roof...when it dawned on me that I have the four Cornish Cross hens that would look like one of those jar cats if I tried to push them into a 12"x12" anything lol...so I divided the...

I can reach all the rafters, so it's not an issue. It's more to give them things to do until I get their run built. Honestly they prefer their roost I built anyway. The 2x4 roost is for the Cornish X. I've decided not to process these four. All of them are very healthy and mobile, and...

Thanks! They seem super happy with the new room...if not with the being packed into a dog carrier to get there lol.

Well, lol. I made like six videos...but haven't had time to post them! The interior of the conversion is complete! Tomorrow will consist of cleanup, final bits of tying loose ends, setting up roosts, and moving birds a handful at a time lol 🙂.

Unfortunately we're kind of attached to him lol. I'll keep you in mind though! Thank you! 'Interesting' is a very polite adjective for the craziness I get myself into, lol. So thank you! I'm happy to have you along!!

I've got another thread going in the Managing Your Flock section...about my new Rooster 'Johnny'...and the fact that he's a 10 month old jerk to my 2.5 month old girls lol. I've been catching him (man, what a pain!...and it scares him half to death of course) and carrying him around under my arm...

I love it lol! And look at them lol. That's awesome :clap:lau. You talk to them just like I talk to all of my animals lol. 'Dummy', 'little idiots', 'moron' LOL. They don't seem to mind and it's always said lovingly....I thought I was the only one! On the hutch thing...mostly I didn't want to...

Chicken Math has Struck!! Or: New Coop NOW!!! Or: I'm Moving My Chickens to the Barn!!!

Yes sir. I'm currently trying to feed fermented food. It was working very well until I added Johnny Boy lol. I've just been putting a little extra so I know there will be some in there for them when he's busy outside. I switched from the bucket setup to two 36" goat feeder/troughs. I'm switching...

Chicken Math has Struck!! Or: New Coop NOW!!! Or: I'm Moving My Chickens to the Barn!!!

I think he was lol. He's turned into a proper jerk now though. He doesn't mount them...but he runs them a bunch, and pulls feathers when he can. He also tries to guard the food. I'm not quite 100% sure how they should be interacting right now (I'll actually bring it up in the other thread about...

Chicken Math has Struck!! Or: New Coop NOW!!! Or: I'm Moving My Chickens to the Barn!!!

Thank you! I love him too, lol. He caught a fledgling bird yesterday...it could only fly a few feet off the ground...and only for 15' or so. It looked like a young dove. Again...a forceful 'SPIT IT OUT!!!' and he dropped it, unharmed. The only reason I knew it was in there was the slightly...

They're 9wks, he's 10mos. Definitely not mounting lol...though he does have them pretty shaken. They have no clue what he is...or more likely...what to do about him lol, and it's obvious.

I probably need a lock on my bank account so I'll stop buying birds lol. I think this is it though. I needed one rooster of age for my current girls who are closeish to laying (Ayam Cemani/Barred Rocks can be GORGEOUS apparently)...now it's just the materials to finish the barn (about 150' of...
