For those who are interested in coming. Last month's was pretty nice. Remember to bring some lawn chairs though if you plan to stay awhile and would like to sit!
I wanted to post some information regarding the Mississippi Poultry Show that is set to be on October 11th-12th. I'm sure many of you have read about it, and many already know this information if you follow the club on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/310093625788476/). But, as of now...
I asked some years back about shows in MS and was given the answer that there aren't any here due to "our government" (I don't know, they didn't explain). The fellow just went further to explain that the closest shows to me were in Tuscaloosa, AL and a little further in Florence. I'm not sure...
Philadelphia sell is every Saturday, sellers start setting up at/a little before sunrise usually and stay until about 2PM. Farmers market in Meridian is usually the first Saturday of the month I believe.
The only local I know of is the farmers market they have in Meridian and Williamsville in Philadelphia. I hear the farmers market occasionally has birds, Williamsville is so-so, lot of sick birds up there so you just have to pick and choose.
What kind of birds you looking for? I've got some...
The fumes from cedar shavings has an effect on the respiratory system. That being said though, I have seen sawdust from Cedar as well as cedar shavings used in a open environment that had a lot of ventilation with no ill effects. I think it depends on whether or not the birds get good airflow...
Hello fellow Mississippians, I've got a pair of birds I'm wanting to let go for the best offer. These birds are pure Shamo, to my knowledge I am the only one with Shamo in the whole state, at least ones that are not obviously crosses as I have seen before. The hen is pure Jim Zook line, if you...
Just curious, anyone interested in these birds? Not the best of videos, but plan on having them and some other fowl up for sale soon.
This cock is a Shamo cross, I'm just kind of accepting offers for him but I wouldn't charge very much in my opinion (he won't be 5 dollars either). I like him...

Mine are just kept in pens in the shade (with fresh/cool water), some do start panting, but luckily games are pretty temp-hardy. I know when I had some Langshan's years back I would trim their vent feathers some, it's not a big heat blocker. But for some of the heavily feathered breeds...

I see, I think I recall someone posting a picture on another forum of a black grey called "Firedowns." You ever have any grey birds thrown, or is it likely that those were just crosses?
My bird's have been laying-laying.. It is rather early, normally they don't kick off until March but...

All depends brother, different breeders different body styles. Doc Robinson hatches are pretty good birds, and are generally large in the leg and body.. Johnny Haguewood is a fellow that lives down by me and my family has known for quite sometime.. He breeds the Doc's, but even then...

Welcome to the thread! I've been around American games a long time, but can't recall any firedowns. Do you happen to have photos/history?
God bless,
Daniel.
