    Maybe check in with DAWN LAND FARM. They have had Java's for a while in NH, but from the look of the website, maybe only Black and White varieties. They may be able to point you to someone local who doesn't advertise.

    Depends on how many chicks come out of the incubator in two weeks. I'm going to modify the rule; chickens in the brooder box don't count.

    I had a low hatch rate but I attributed this to the beating the box took in transit. I was washing yolk off some of the surviving eggs. Monte has very nice mottled. I believe that mottled is recessive, so that both parents must contribute the gene. A pure black in either parent would give you...

    The three young hens came from Turnland/Urch. The cockerel and pullet were hatched from eggs I got from Monte Bowen. He sent me about 4 dozen eggs. The post office reduce it to about 2 1/2 dozen. Seven hatched. Six males and the one female.

    He's a big boy. Same age as the pullet to his left. He weighed 7 1/2 lbs at 6 months, she was 5 1/2. I have not weighed him since as he is fairly wild. Here's some pictures of the girls that didn't make the first post. I'm still figuring this out.

    I'm new to BYC and been watching this thread. I have a little Java flock consisting of a 8 month old cockerel and pullet, with three young hens (one year on Feb 21). Thought I would add some pictures. (Who doesn't like pictures?)
