I think Edison is officially better -- He walked all the way to the pond by himself today!!:celebrate
How long should I continue giving him the tablets?
Edison has tried to stand up a few times today. His legs aren't completely straight when he tries to stand, and they're pretty shaky, but I think he's making progress!
I got Twinlab brewer's yeast. I just read the label, and it says that it contains 5.3 mg of niacin per serving...Is that a good amount, or should I get a different brewer's yeast in the future?
I'll go carry him to the pond and see if he can swim. Even if swimming is hard for him, he'll probably enjoy sitting in the shallow end of the pond. Thanks again for your help, it's much appreciated. :)
I've been sticking the pills inside of grapes, and Edison has been eating them with no problem, so that's good.
How long do you think it will take for him to be able to walk again?
It finally stopped raining, so I got some pictures. First pic is of Edison's legs when I lift him up (I apologize for poor quality, it is very difficult to hold a duck and take a picture at the same time). Next one is of Edison. That's how he's been sitting...You wouldn't think that anything was...
I went to the health food store and got 100mg niacin capsules. I already have b-complex capsules for myself, and I gave one to Edison yesterday, but I figured pure niacin would be better?
I put him in a separate cage with two other ducks, and gave him some electrolyte/probiotic supplements and food mixed with brewer's yeast. Then I put him in the coop for nighttime like I usually do. None of the hens would dare to pick on Edison. He's twice as big as they are, and he has his...
He's been weaker than the others from the start...He can't walk long distances without constantly sitting down to rest, and he'll only swim for maybe two minutes before getting out of the pond and falling asleep. The other ducks will swim for 15 minutes at least. Then this afternoon it suddenly...
I'll try to get pictures in a little while. When he stands up his legs seem to be straight, but when he tries to walk they just...crumple. That's the best way to describe it. He's still eating and drinking and doesn't seem lethargic at all.
I did give him brewer's yeast every once in a while...
I have a 6 month old pekin, Edison, who seems to be unable to walk. He's been trying (and failing) to move around by flapping his wings. He doesn't have injuries on his legs/feet, and his legs are not broken- he still kicks me when I pick him up. He just can't seem to walk. What do I do?
P.s I...
