    I’m not sure how long since her last actual egg, apart from this lash egg. My hens just started laying again since winter. I’d say I have only seen her egg ( color) nice or twice so far this month.

    She is awake and alert. Ate some sunflower seeds. I had not yet administered antibiotics. Vent looks ok.

    She is awake. Her comb is bright red but flopped over. She readily took sunflower seeds. Here are photos from this morning. I had not yet administered antibiotics. Was about to head to farm store to buy antibiotics.

    Her vent doesn’t appear damaged. I thought perhaps something prolapsed and was severely pecked as there were so many tiny bits of congealed blood in her feathers .

    Also, inside ( after I cut it open) the texture reminded me of liver.

    I washed her in bath. She had bloody tissue bits in her feathers. After drying her, I did not see a prolapse. I cut open the mass as you recommended. It’s deep red and bloody. I have her indoors and resting.

    Found this hard-ish mass hanging from 3 yo hen’s vent tonight. It was bloody. The outer skin slid off ( shell?) when I tried to remove the mass and it pulled apart a bit with a whitish part inside.
