Honestly, and I feel horrible 'bout it, but I don't know! Charlotte started sitting, say, 3-4 weeks ago, and decided she was done 2 weeks in, so Alexis took over.......I know they should have hatched by now. But they don't smell rotten, so they're still good. They just might not work......But...
Oh, of course! If I get ducklings, the whole world will see them! I'll make sure to post as soon as I can (when they hatch.....If they hatch. I'm starting to doubt whether or not they even will..)
Oh, my! They're precious! My ducks are gray, white or black, so I'm hoping for a black one. I lost my only black female a while back. :-(
My drakes......I don't know if they will be able to meet the little babies for a while, once they hatch. They aren't the laid back or sweet kind of drakes...
Well, see, that's simple. I have a perfect water system and feed system, but what's Alexis gonna do? If the openings for them to eat are small enough that they can't get in, she won't be able to get her beak in. But if I get ones sized for her, the ducklings will drown.
It seems that everyone hatches their ducklings with an incubator these days, so I can't seem to find a thing on what they need when they're with their mum. I have a chick feeder. Can I use that to feed them?
That's pretty cool. Still expensive, but I would've expected a starter to be more in the 20 dollar range. I pay $10 for the cracked corn now, and that lasts me over a month with just five ducks. I don't think I'd even need a full 50lb too. I would think just a 20-30 lb would be okay, if they...
I'll have to look up that mason jar waterer. Sounds very clever. I figured I'd just leave them with her in that pen for a little while, just until they can withstand the current of the creek and are smart enough to not get beat up by a drake. Actually, since this weekend I'll have two pens, I...
Awesome! Thanks for the advice, but I think they're fine on the cracked corn. The person we got them from only feeds hers cracked corn, and they're healthy. So are mine. They're far from scrawny, but not fat. They have full foam of over 6 acres including a large creek filled with fish and snakes...
So, I'm praying with all my might that Alexis, my duck, will hatch out some ducklings. She's been sitting on her eggs for a while now, so I have hope.
What I was wondering is: what can I feed my ducklings (on a tight budget) that can be fed to Alexis as well. I've heard that people are using...
