No problem!
Yeah, horse pastures are an improvement because I had to set up a temporary housing to keep him separate from my rooster. The lady I sold him to was experienced with chickens. She took in about 20 of my other cockerels too lol :D
So, I had to rehome my cockerel. He was crowing a lot, and I have an elderly neighbor close to the coop, and I felt bad. There was practically no swelling anymore, and he started to use his wing again. He’s now free ranging on horse pastures. I’m sad to see him go, but it’s for the best. Thank...
Yeah.... :D
He can move the wing, and uses it a bit. He acts totally normal other that not fully using the wing. You’d never know anything happened unless you saw him flutter up to the roost.
So, I never got around to calling the vet:barnie
I’ve been ridiculously busy. However, the swelling has gotten much smaller. It’s very small now. Should I leave it alone, and see how it goes? Also, I haven’t been bandaging it lately, he holds it in a pretty normal position now( he’s also really...
The break does feel sturdier. I’ll see if there’s a vet in the area that I can take him to. Thank you all for your advice.
@Chickinie, I’ll try that if I can’t find a vet, thank you for the advice. I kinda just don’t trust myself draining something so close to the break.
I don’t know.. I’ll have to see if there’s any affordable avian vets in my area. I’ve never needed to see a vet before.
Do you have any idea what could be going on? I assume I can’t treat this myself.
@Wyorp Rock
Thanks for replying! If this can be treated by me, great, but if not, I’ll consider a vet. I really appreciate y’all’s advice!
Once the swelling goes down, should I splint it better? I really just did this:
I was wondering, is it possible that the swelling is an abscess? I realize that it’s most likely from the break, but just wanted to check. Here’s some better pictures:
It seems to be most swollen in the area of the scab. Could it have been a compound fracture? How would I tell?
@Eggcessive...
I really just wrapped the wing in a normal position to the body. Should I follow the manual exactly? It was suggested that I wrap it loosely, because of the swelling and bruising I think. Thank you!
I just wrapped his wing loosely, so it didn’t hang down. Does this look good? Do I have to change it for the wing to heal properly?

His wing is very swollen today. :( It's like three times the size of his uninjured wing, and it's a blue/green/purple. I feel so bad. Should I give him ibuprofen or something similar? I'm going to attempt splinting it later. I have to get some vetwrap first. @Kiki @casportpony
