Grace stood and smoothed out her dress, now smudged. She dreaded having to walk back to the castle looking like that. She turned to Danielle, "I should go now. It's getting late, and I have a few things I need to do."
{I seriously need to go do some stuff, so I'm going offline for the night in...
{Because Nix is hardly ever online the same time I am! lol}
She smiled "I've never been very good at talking to men, but suppose I could try. Thanks, Danielle. You've been a wonderful friend to me."
"I know." She smiled to herself, thinking of her earlier conversation with Charles. "But, if only he knew how happy it would make me..." she trailed off.
She sat up. "I... I want a child. Ever since my mother... well, you know. And Thomas... I want to love someone." Her words came out choppy and breathless, between sobs.
Grace left her book in the garden and ran to the stream. She laid down on a rock, trailing her hand in the cool water and her tears mixed with the ripples.
{back!}
Grace slowly raised her eyes and looked at the baby's face. "Oh, your Majesty!" she breathed "She is so... so perfect." A wistful look came over her features.
She studied his features. "Only three simple words are needed to make a woman feel like she is floating on air. You will find them."
{Arg! I gtg. Will be back later.}
She gazed into the distance for a moment, concentrating. "I think I saw her walking over there a bit earlier." she said, slowly, pointing towards the path that wound around the roses.
"I'm well, thank you." She closed her book and stood up, her dress rustling softly, and faced him. She was glad she chose to wear her second best dress that day.
