I'll take snow over ice any day! I lived in Lexington through the 2003 ice storm. I never want to go through that again. It was miserable. We didn't have power for 8 days. I had to go to the gas station to get water for the critters. I cannot imagine what it is like now with it even more...

Hello! I live in the Chain O'Lakes area. Very N. IL, 5 miles south of WI in Lake Co. I have 6 hens and 1 roo (a rescue from Save a Pet!). We all survived the cold weather. Had 3 heat lamps going non-stop for a few days in the -31F weather, but everyone seems OK right now. Hope others fared well.
