Good morning All!
I noticed something that just made me and my husband speechless last night. We were rounding up the girls last night, to close the coop for the evening, notice I said girls.....our only roo is still a baby......and my New Hampshire Red HEN, appeared to mate my speckled sussex...
I don't know where you live, but I am in schuylkill county and willing to help, I have hens and pullets out the kazoo. Plus 2 more broodies!! I'd be willing to spare a few, send me a message if interested
Went to visit dheltzel on Friday, to pick up 4 guineas.....well.....as to be expected, I came home with 8 guineas, 4 little ccl chicks, a large black sexlink pullet, a larger ccl, and a turkey!
Things have definitely been crazy! Guineas for one are a whole new beast, within 5 mins of getting...
Congrats! That's an awesome find. We also have tons on our property, maybe clearing may help, but honestly they grow so strong and full, that I don't think it's necessary, I do use the mower to cut paths through them to reach more berries. My observation tells me that the new shoots don't grow...
I am in such an odd situation! I have a nice couple on their way over to take my last rooster. They were over to get a few started pullets last week ,ended up taking the pullets brother as well. While at my house they spotted my silkie rooster and fell in love, texted me and asked about him, so...
What sad news :( Tom was truly always willing to help, and give advice, I depended on him many times in the beginning.
Condolences to his family, he will be missed here!
I got my new lavender chick's this morning! Learninmyflock was kind enough to to help me get them from dheltzel and care for them for a few days until we met up. I went against my better judgement and instead of waiting for nightfall, just put them under my broody silkie, lucky for me she is...
Is she home?? Our big white predator target never coops at night, she would rather roost on a fence, and there are times when we CAN NOT find her no matter what, but she always comes back! good luck, I hope yours comes back too, Im waiting to here if she does~
Welcome!!!!
How sad :( if the entry points for the shed are really small, and not big enough for large predators, maybe mink/weasel or rats
Poor baby! That looks like it hurts, how does a chicken break their beak? I hope she recovers well for you
I keep large fowl and silkies together without a hitch. I also currently have 3 week old silkie crosses that I would gladly rehome to you if you want to integrate a few more friends for her, they grow up beautiful with medium size, normal feathering and a cute little crest!
