    Ducklings

Unfortunately he didn’t make it :( He was doing great on Saturday- he was sort of walking and had escaped from the cage several times. When I got up on Sunday he was in the incubator looking quite listless. I got him out and he died in my arms about 5 minutes later. I am gutted as we was doing well.

We’re doing better this morning. Certainly more upright. Foot seems to have straightened out. Just need to sort out that balance!

    Ducklings

Seems to be stronger this morning. He’s eaten some more sludge. Shouting loudly and getting very frustrated that he can’t seem to get the coordinations together to walk.

    Ducklings

Thanks. Will do when it opens in the morning. I powdered some chick crumb up with some yeast in warm water- he’s taken about 1/2 ml from a syringe. He’s so wriggly- I put him in a old sock whilst I fed him so he didn’t get wet/cold and so I could keep a bit of a hold of him. He managed to...

    Ducklings

I’m in the UK- do you know if there’s an equivalent or what is in it? His tummy is still sticking out a bit. He has been licking drops of water off the bottom of the incubator. He’s quite lively and shouty. He’s pushed all the other eggs around the incubator. Constantly.

Not too sure how to do that. He is lifting his head but only for short periods @Miss Lydia. One of his feet seem to work faster than the other?

    Ducklings

Still not up and about. He’s kind of laying on one side or the other and pushing himself round on the floor.

    Ducklings

There he is- he’s unattached. He’s licking moisture off the floor of the incubator

    Ducklings

He’s out. He’s cheeping and kicking his legs. He doesn’t seem to be upright yet. How long do they usually take?

    Ducklings

They’re Indian runners. Only had one hatch so far. The other is scraping the inside of the shell. I have a few more ready next week.

    Ducklings

So we lost a duckling yesterday. His brother was pipping also. This morning he looked like he was struggling a bit- he was coming out ass first. Very strong, shouting and flapping the wing and foot he’d managed to get free. He popped his head out this morning. There’s still a small fingernail...
