Vermonters... I know you are all planting Gardens but....... you all are way too quiet! We are seeing an uptick in predators here in Bristol. Fox during the day Coyotes at night. I'm planning a daytime pen for my best breeders to keep them out of the foxes mouths. How about you guys? -Keara

So glad I have 4 roosters! They are working shifts, all day, to drive off a persistent peregrine falcon. Even the little bantie is doing his share. My poor blue copper marans has been blooded but is doing fine and still working to protect his girls.

no need to heat but you will have to provide thawed water. A heated waterer base works great but needs electricity. I guess you could bring them fresh hot water 3x a day, though that seems like a lot of work. Can you run an extentioncord out to the coop?

That many birds and you will not have to worry about heat or insulation. In fact you will be more worried about having good ventilation so there is no build up of ammonia. Just make sure you have water heaters to keep it thawed. Always use hardware cloth and not chicken wire. Any predator...

you should be fine, water, shade.... you got it covered. Just make sure if you have many chickens that you have more than one waterer so everyone is getting thier fill.

Barkin' Are you still interested in the yellow footed Marans chicks? I have 6 at one week you can have; all came from my darkest eggs. I would like to part with them soon as I am headed out of town and it would be 6 less my husband will have to care for. -Keara
