That sounds like a nice flock, you should get a lot of eggs out of them. We won't tell the Reds and SLs you like the Rocks best!

Pretty pullets, looks like they are growing up fast! Glad they all turned out to be girls for you (you almost had chicken math take effect, but you resisted!), bet your friend was happy to get the extra girls.
Plymouth Rock is the breed, Barred is a color within the breed (they come in many colors) ... Barred is probably the most popular color for Plymouth Rocks in backyard flocks so people commonly just call them Barred Rocks for short instead of Barred Plymouth Rocks. Same shorthand is often used...
Just had hatchery stock but they have been a nice friendly breed, they do seem to want to be underfoot (guess they know where the feed is coming from) really good all around birds, good winter layers. Picture of my Partridge girl (from McMurray).
