No one is trying to argue with you. It's impossible for a rooster to lay an egg.
I am confused and just want to know what this "first" thing is you are referring to.
Rat was the first thing that came to mind too... especially seeing that this roosters cage isn't rat proof by any means.
Also.. another interesting thing that was stated was the rooster is getting up high to lay the eggs which is why this second egg broke. Yet the rooster is in the cage that...
Go to the vet prepared...with you phone on hand to record the exam and X-rays/ultrasounds...blood work...what ever is done and said to share with us.

Roosters don't lay eggs. Your rooster did not lay the egg.
If it is fertilized he may have mated the hen that laid it or one of your other roosters did.
Just because you found an egg near a rooster does not mean that he laid it.
