I am using one of those small Exo Terra Analog Hydrometers. It was about day 15 and I had no water in the incubator at the time. Anyway 8 hatched out of 13. A few of the eggs had chicks in them fully grown but it looked a bit dry which I am disappointed with my self.
The 8 chicks that made it...
Its is such an amazing thing to see new chicks hatch! My whole family were captivated. 8 hatched in the end which I am very very happy about! I think this incubator is great!!
Here they are at 3 days old!
My faith in incubators has been restored using the Brinsea 20 Eco. I have 5 hatched and two more pipping. I have 6 more eggs that havnt pipped yet.
Has anyone else had really prolonged hatchings?
Thanks for the reply. We are at day 16 today. I opened the air vent and the humidity dropped. I did this because I thought the air sacks didn't look large enough for the stage we were at. If the humidity is around 10 what effect will it have on the eggs? I thought we needed more evaporation...
Thanks, your site is very interesting.
I think my eggs have too much fluid in them. The air vent hasn't been open enough I think. Would having a very low humidity for a day or two with air vent fully open be a good idea or would it be bad for the eggs?
Hi everyone. Day 13 now. Eggs developing well, I have taken 2 of the original 15 out due to not being fertile....but.... The air cells haven't seem to have increased very much in the fertile ones. I have opened the air vent fully, what else could I do? The water has nearly all dried out below...
Thanks katsdar and enggass for the words of encouragement!. Temp and humidity have stayed exactly the same since I set them on Monday which bodes well I suppose. I cracked an egg before I set and it was fertile so I am presuming most in the incubator will also be. I have hatched many shipped...
I tried a hatch last year in one of those small light bulb incubators and had 6 eggs and none hatched. My confidence is very low. I cant help but think that none will hatch this time as well in my octagon eco 20 incubator?!?!
