I meant to say: I turned off the heat lamp on my 2 week olds. Sounds harsh, but it is going to be 89 today, with a low of 60. My house is up on the hill, so it might hit 55. They are seperated from today's chicks by a perferated bread flat--so if they are cold, they can dog pile and mooch...

*le sigh* I ordered anyway. 10% would have been nice, though. I have 3 batches of chicks, and all those heat lamps are killing me. Especially since it is 100 degrees in the daytime, and 45 at night. Redonkulous AZ weather.

Husband and I are discussing the load calcs. He wants me to "invest" in one or two, and then we'll run them on an electricity usage meter, and see how much we really save. Electricity is pretty cheap in Phx, but we DID notice it was way high this year---as we had to put heat lamps out in the coop.
