I like the idea of a thermometer with an alarm. If you find one you like please share a link here.
I helped a teacher use this incubator for a hatch at school and thought it would be a good way to give hatching a try, without spending too much money, so I bought one for myself.
What type...
I think you might want to lower that humidity. I thought for a regular hatch you want to be At 50% for the first 18 days, (from the instruction book), and with a dry hatch you want to be 20-30%. Then 60-70% for hatch. Maybe someone who has a successful hatch can tell better...
Ya. Mine seems to hold fairly steady as well. I also use 2 thermometers. I had a 3rd one, but thought that might be overkill. Hahaha.
Eggs were set last night at midnight and temps came back up within the hour and holding steady. I guess now we wait!
I am using a digital from incubator warehouse. http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Thermometer-Hygrometer-Min-Memory/dp/B004XNMG4S/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1365974195&sr=1-1&keywords=Incubator+Warehouse. It is very small and also measures humidity.
But I also am using one that looks like a meat...
Ya... I was pretty happy with it. I think it could have been better, but the teacher was using the thermometer and hygrometer on the incubator, without a cross reference one, plus having little kids running around it every day.... I used my mutt eggs from our farm, so free chicks basically, and...
I forgot to post pictures of my babies hatched in a farm innovator early this week!
I had a 50% hatch. Not too bad considering that the incubator was located in a school and that the teacher was running the show. I just provided the eggs and supplies for the babies after the hatch. Now they...
What are you keeping the humidity at for hatch? what was your humidity the first 18 days? I am in the middle of my first hatch so I am still learning myself, but do you think a higher humidity in the beginning would mean that there would still be extra humidity in those eggs at hatch?
So, here is a question.
I have eggs set in this same incubator at a school for a project. Seems like everything is working well and we are set to hatch next week.
I went and purchased one of these to work on a hatch at home. Set up in my basement and I have been letting it run empty for a...
