    Looks "mitey" to me, but she could just be dirty. The build-ups around her feather shafts look suspicious too.

    Did you get any pics? Check under her wings too and look for white protrusions on her feather shafts. Those are nits.

    DE isn't an effective way to treat mites or lice. You'd have to use a Permethrin spray made for poultry.
