    I’m not sure why. It’s what I’ve read about them. The original source of the heavy mottling was a hen of unknown origin bred with speckled sussex and exchequer leghorn. It doesn’t talk about it here, but you can see from the pictures that the chicks have more mottling than the adults...

    It’s a thing that can happen with aloha chickens. It is less common than them getting whiter.

    The mottling may become more or less pronounced as it grows. For now, I’m guessing calico, but if the mottling lessens, then it’d be a mille fleur.
