Gotta love the old hardware collection. I have one also and find the best goodies in there. Old barns have great stuff.

L brackets now I see how. That's easy enough.

How did you attach the wood that maintains the shape? Did you just need one piece front and back?

That door is 36 wide by 84 high so definitely a factor in anything I come up with.

Hey that's pretty cool! Going to measure a door and consider this.

I measured the concrete, varies between 5 and and 6 feet. Full hoop off the run door, not sure I'd have the height to clear the door. Then it seems snow would get piled up between one side and the barn wall. Would make kind of a crack. For now I'll look for graph paper.

Windows 10. Steep learning curve bad. I kind of miss the old days where photo editing and sketch programs were limited and therefore easy for the casual user.

@aart Can you recommend an easy program for drawing stuff?

Well plus as soon as I decided on large fowl for eggs this time I regretted not getting fancy bantams for fun. :he:lau

I might need to expand inward as well if I don't control the inappropriate thoughts. :duc

Modified hoop coop idea, been done?

Well. Yes it did sound simple for a minute there but now there are several challenges. The concrete side yes. Maybe I should consider that more. It might be 6 feet of concrete, I'll need to check. There might be enough height to the roof line there to just continue it out say ten feet...

Modified hoop coop idea, been done?

Possibly. I was hoping to have a fairly simple project, won't have much help. Building that would be beyond my abilities.

More likely 4x4s as I have lots. Could still do about 12-15 inches of slope, from bottom of that board(i think its a 2x10, or 2x8) to just shy of the roof, easy enough to add something there against the barn wall to attach the higher side to. This is the only overall pic I have handy, out...

Trenching it under could be best, I'll have to dig there anyway, plus ads a bit of stability I'd think.

The width at ground level is less than I thought, only 105 inches. Height to the top of door framing I marked yellow is 84. I think it would have to be attached there rather than right under the roof as that roof structure is old enough (possibly 100 years, far from code) that I might not trust...

@aart That is amazing and I didn't excel at math enough to know how to figure how far that 16' would go. Walking out to measure right now.

Very true. Although if you sourced marine grade clear plastic that would hold up. I think a bit pricey though.

For that matter, could I run the panels straight up say 6 feet with simple posts securing, then bend nearly 90 degrees into a slightly sloped roof up to the barn wall. This would make a 10 foot not arched roof section supported at each end of each panel. Not sure how that would handle snow load.
