Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

Happy Dance! This morning, I am not feeling Laney's crop mass! I want to thank each of you for your help and support. We ended up doing nightly, fennel-seed-tea doses (the towel-wrapping video was so helpful), while waiting for the copper sulfate to arrive - it has not, as yet. Each morning...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

Great video, thanks! What a sweet little chicken-model she was. ♡ And, hey ~ my chicken is just like that! Only, twice as big. 3 times as sassy. And 10 times stronger. 😉 But the tips were very helpful. Video saved

I actually just saw the kid tube feeding kits on Amazon. They have red rubber, but only in FR14. The FR18 are not red rubber. Description: About this item Clear plastic, 16" long with 60 CC syringe Easier to use because they are less flexible than typical red rubber tube Great for feeding weak...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

I syringed some fennel tea, tonight. Laney was furious! She even kind of snapped at me - and she's my little sweetheart. My girls behave nothing like the videos in the "step-by-step" thread. I'm going to go watch them, again. Laney has small wattles, too. I can't really use them to help open...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

I will prepare some fennel tea for tonight, and offer it via syringe. I'd like to help ease the pressure she must be feeling, until the copper sulfate arrives. This morning, her crop was very hard, again. I massaged it, but I'm not sure it really helped, without adding the oil and stool...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

ok, so do I use two, 60 ml syringes full of the solution? Or just one, 60 ml syringe? And, is this little tube (shown above) too narrow? It's 11", and would be just about the right length, after I remove the end piece. Or, would an I.V. tube (from my nurse-neighbor) be better? It seems like it...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

I called my exotic bird store, hoping the manager could sell me a kit and teach me how to tube feed. He's on vacation. Haven't gotten through to the vet's office. They must be on lunch. Then it dawned on me. My grandson used to have a GI tube in his belly. I still have these! But I'm not sure...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

Last night her crop was big and hard, again 😞 It so hard to even get a syring of medicine in these girls. I'm sure a molasses flush would never work. I think I need to hear more about the fennel tea. How do you make it? How do you administer it? Laney absolutely loved the rice, carrot, egg treat

BTW, lots of green poop in the droppings box, this morning. I did not let the girls free range yesterday, but they did, the day before. Could grass take that long to digest? Also... yellow urates, again. I'm thinking it's from Gerty. I will start going out after dark, and jotting down their...

Will do. Thanks. This morning, she had just a very small, but soft mass in her crop. Should I continue with the monostat? Edit: is there a video on "flushing"?

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

It's odd. She still has a very small mass in her crop that isn't passing. And it seems she is tiring of the coconut oil. But I'm still getting the stool softener, pro-biotic and monistat in her. One of my other girls had some poops with yellow-ish urates, yesterday. I think it was my Gerty, who...

Phew! That's a relief! Good thing we're worming then, hey?

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

@azygous Can Safe-Guard cause black poop? I don't remember this happening back in January, the first time I wormed the girls. I have at least 1 girl, possibly as many as 3, pooping black - judging by the roost dropping box I just cleaned out. I have not let them out of the run for a couple...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

I set my alarm for 15 mins before sunrise. This morning did go much better. Still a lot of wrestling with the girls. RIRs are incredibly determined. I still have 1 to dose. She was in the nesting box. I got pooped on twice, but the towel caught it and I was spared. Laney's impaction is quite...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

Oh, BTW - Laney still has a very small mass in her crop, but it is responding to the protocol after a single dose and massage, now. This little lady is very good about taking her meds. She doesn't like the Safe Guard syringe, but - she totally looks forward to the rest! So... there's my silver...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

RIRs to not like being held, and they certainly do not like taking meds! I think today was worse than yesterday. By the time I got out of the coop, there was as much poop on me as there was in the droppings box! But at least I was smart enough to wear sleeves, this time 🙄 Thank you Wyorp. Yay...

Incomplete impacted crop treatment - please help!

Quick question: I got 7 nice eggs today. And it's been a looong time since Ive gotten this many in a day. I just started Safe guard, this morning. Since the eggs were already formed and ready to be laid, would it be safe to keep these 7 eggs? I'll be tossing eggs for a long time. Just hoping
