    Agreed, even with shavings if I didn't change the bedding at least twice weekly the stench from poop soaked in water was horrendous. I can't imagine the weight and difficulty of changing wet poopy sand. In an outdoor enclosure it sounds ideal though.

    Can't necessarily answer that. I kept mine in the coop for 2 weeks, then had to herd them in. They're MUCH easier to herd than chickens. Just carry a long stick and wave opposite where you want them to go. Don' t wave it over their heads, they'll freak, and don't hit them with it. I tried...

    Ah. Hmm. So I'm back to believing what I believed before. Kinda feel like my brain got derailed and then shoved back on track. Thank you all!! That sounds like fun! I'd never thought of that. Minnows - think they'd survive in a duck pool for a couple of days? I'd like a video of that.

    I heard it on BYC actually. Then did research. Couldn't find anything backing it up, so I asked. - what is the puffy area (?)below the cloaca on a 4-day old duckling? Is that the umbilical connection? I thought the umbilical was through the cloaca?
