Sounds like you're doing a good job! It is very addicting! When you're done that hatch, join a bunch of us for the 4th Annual Easter Hatchalong! We set eggs March 9th at noon. Find us on that thread - it'll be a blast!

All right Peggy-Sue! Yeah, with still airs, you want temps to be just a wee bit warmer than you would for a forced air unit. The range you specified should be great. I had good success with even at 102.1 with no ill effects. It had spiked to 103.4 at times & immediately popped up the top when...

Broody hens are great! I made sure that the 2nd coop had nest boxes closer to the floor this time. A good broody will protect chicks from rest of the flock. Can't wait for broodies this year! I still like to incubate, just in case! Hmmmm....marbles you say, Chicken Keith? Might have to try that!

    Who uses Little Giant Incubators?

Guess its just a matter of setting priorities. Can your family survive without you for several days during lockdown? I found this to be the most finickiest part of it all. Although it was easy to get humidity up, keeping it in a safe range was not! And when one has hatched, that brings humidity...

I love your frank assessment Chicken Keith! They sure do play head games, just like an ex I had too! Lol! I did get a 75% hatch rate by the end, but it came at a high price. I was a basket-case for last 3 days! I drove my family NUTS! Just too much work in monitoring. I AM getting a Hovabator...

Interesting! You never know! I just candled one egg for my 27th hatch due date. Still kicking in there! Yay! Will have the brooder ready tomorrow. No action yet on last egg though. Will leave it alone, maybe hatch tomorrow. Best of luck to you! Hope they hatch on time! :)

Ooh, copper marans! Nice! 4th one just hatched! I must have done something right! 4 out of 5. Not getting hopes up on 3 due on 27th. I feel they may have drowned in all the humidity needed for first hatch. Time will tell! When are your Marans due?

Just mutts. RIR over hybrid hens and Cuckoo Marans over SG Dorkings and RIR over SG Dorkings. Had this incubator from road trip in states last fall. Got bored & decided to test drive it!

Dilemma! They did survive those temp spikes. Don't know how much exposure they got to it, but I think the LG is worth a shot. My 4th has made some progress - starting to zipper! Dunno about the 5th. Nothing there, but its only day 20.

    Who uses Little Giant Incubators?

It can be done! Mine spiked at 103.1 on several occasions (that I know about). Did what Peggy-Sue did. Day 20 & have 3 healthy chicks so far! All depends how much time you're willing & able to put into it. I have the luxury to monitor all day long. Still, I would love a more advanced unit!

It's fun to watch first time out. I have success this morning! A very healthy, spunky, & noisy chick hatched out! Amazing! He doesn't rest for long. He's a real go-getter!

Got my first pip on day 19 with it! Lots of babysitting - don't mind this go around.

    Who uses Little Giant Incubators?

It's hard to find an ideal spot in my house. I'm able to babysit, and eggs are still kicking 2nd day of lockdown! I'm upgrading for next hatch, so hubby doesn't get neglected.

    Who uses Little Giant Incubators?

I'm using one right now. I can vouch for its temp spikes as such. I babysit it OFTEN! I ordered the Genesis when I ordered my chicks for spring. I would imagine the LG would be a step down from a hovabator. The Genesis is deemed to be 'plug & play'.
