Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

Don't feel too bad. She's in a much better place now and nothing will ever hurt her again.

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

I think whatever cause her to loose the ability to eat on her own that killed her. I believe she damaged her brain because when I would stick her beak in the food she couldn't pick it up. When she tried her head slipped forward. I'm sad that I lost her cause I really wanted her to get better...

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

she must have waited until I got up. When I got her up and brought her to the couch and sit down with her to adjust her she was gone in less than 10 minutes. She stretched her neck out a couple of times and gave a few gurggles and her head fell over and she closed her eyes. I will never know...

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

I am sad to report that my silkie passed away this morning. I was with her when she took her last breath so she didn't go alone.

Thank you. Ever since I was little I've always had this obsession of helping injured animals and bringing home strays. I have 8 rescued house rabbits also : )

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

When I exercise her legs she is giving me more resistance and her toes are curling more. She still won't eat on her own but she does drink water really well. I expect she will make a recovery but I'm sure it will be a long time.

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

oh no she's in the house on lots of soft towels with paper towels under her butt. I keep her close to me to keep her protected and safe. When I take her out to see her friends I sit with her. I'm too afraid of something happening.

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

Honestly I think she may have hit her head and caused some brain damage. I say this because she will drink water on her own but I have to tap the back of her neck to remind her.

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

Ill get better pics of her tomorrow and pics of her legs so everyone stay tuned. I look for her to improve. She may never walk again but if I can get her to at least have some movement in her legs ill be happy. At least she could maybe push herself or something or if I built her a walker she...

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

I've been trying to think of a way I can prop her butt up so when she goes she doesn't have to sit in it. Since she can't move to get away from it. It doesn't stick to her skin but I will definitely do the Vaseline so she doesn't get poo burn from sitting in it during the night.

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

Lol mine thinks I'm crazy too but hey I like her and I'm the one doing it. She is in the house with me. I have a laundry basket full of towels she sleeps in. I don't want her getting pressure sores. During the day she spends time in the sling or I carry her around with me : )

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

Ill have to try that. Her poops are normal 95% of the time. Solid and round with the white. Smells really bad but she has had a change in diet.

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

Wonderful news...it stopped. I even held her beak shut to force her to breath through her nose and its Crystal clear. She may have had a piece of food stuck in her troat. For some reason at night time she starts to breath with her mouth open : / but during the day she breaths through her nose.

Anybody care for a special needs chicken?

yes I've tried scrambled eggs and she will take a couple bites and she's done. This feed I got is farmers ultra kibble and it says it has high quality stuff in it and protein. I was told it would help her gain back her weight. I've tried giving her bread which she use to love but she won't even...
