@MikaLind I love to see owners appreciate the rare Breda! I do not do social media or FB since I don't/can't breed these beautiful birds. Don't like/don't trust FB and don't even do online business. Just a personal preference. My DH is on FB and he can join the Breda page but his FB...

@chicken danz Wow! One Wing is so lucky to have you! Any bird deserves a loving owner and when it comes to rare breeds they really deserve special care. That's how we felt when we re-homed our Cuckoo Breda hen -- same person who also took our Blue Breda cockerel several years ago because...

I guess our re-homed Cuckoo Breda is not missing us very much -- she sleeps with her new owner's dog -- that dog defends his flock like a real guardian breed would!!

Yep, the BBS (Blue/Black/Splash) variety of Breda are my favorite for human-friendly temperament. Dunno what makes one variety seem more aloof than another but I've found it true so far. The Mottled and Cuckoo are beautiful regal statuesque larger Breda varieties with many appreciative...

@boskelli1571 so sorry you lost your Wellie roo -- it's so hard losing a good bird!!!! Hope your BBS roo does a good job!

My understanding is that Breda breeders are hard to find or non-existent in Europe so what is here in the USA may be the only birds? Keep your BBS Breda as true to appearance & docile human-friendly temperament as possible. Those BBS are so great -- so gorgeous and regal -- and good layers!

My sweet gorgeous statuesque Cuckoo Breda hen has been dangerously harassing my 10-yr-old Partridge Silkie. Although my two Dominique hens came to the Silkie's defense and would put my Breda in her place it became increasingly uncomfortable for my little Silkie to feel safe. After one of the...

Usually my Cuckoo Breda loves to pose for photos but she was having too much fun in the garden beds! Dominique hen lounging in the dead cucumber bed! Southern California brush fire season -- this is a couple miles behind us in the mountain -- I used to live where this fire is but got tired...

Turned my girls loose in the raised garden beds -- the vines will be dying off soon -- the best harvesting is done -- just getting deformed end-of-season fruit so the girls will love dwelling in the shady leaves and moist soil. Dominique hen Cuckoo Breda left front ccrner Lone Partridge...

I want a Blue from chicken danz too! Her cross-breeding to improve hardiness has GOT to be a great plus for this fabulous breed! Hopefully in chicken danz' project the sweet temperament crosses over as well! I feel so sorry for my Cuckoo Breda not having her own breed companions. My two...

@boskelli1571 Oh me, oh my! Me wants more Breda !!! BTW -- if your blue hen dallied w/ a Wellie roo, wouldn't the chicks have mixed color feathers? I would think some would come out clean legged too? Such cute chicks!!!!

Had to post some pics of Char -- she seems to love posing for pics -- how she figures out to stand still for my photos is a mystery to me since my other 3 breeds are nearly impossible to capture! @boskelli1571 Have you more pics of your new baby chicker-doodles?!

Yep, being an at-risk senior myself I've become a home-body since mid-March and wearing my mask whenever I'm out driving doing errands -- my DH does the grocery and other shopping while I stay in the car. I've had to exclusively become an online shopper lately. Here's my latest online purchase...

Now that Newcastles is clear as of about two weeks ago, the weather's been too hot to order shipped birds! It's always SOMETHING, eh? With Covid still flaring in our State it's just as well I wait til next Spring to order. Staying at home all the time (I'm an at-risk senior) it's given me...

Well, my Cuckoo Breda has gone broody on an empty nest 3rd year in a row! It's been a week now -- hope she's over it in a couple weeks! She's so cranky when we get her up to go eat, drink, and exercise before she rushes back to her empty box.

Hand-rearing baby chicks does make them more approachable when they become adults but I was watching a video of a batch of several chick breeds. More aggressive type chick breeds (like Leghorns) would run up to a human hand in hopes of a treat but easily got bored and scurried off to keep...
