"We should find somewhere to stay for the night." Rue said.

Rue sighed happily. "I'm glad everyone is safe."

"Okay, I think they're gone. Is everyone safe?" Rue asked.

"Shh..." Rue said quietly. "I think they're leaving...." He watched a couple of dogs turn round and race towards the hill that he, and Freddy, had once stood upon.

"Keep quiet everyone...." Rue said, listening to dogs as they passed.

Rue stopped and looked around. "Is everyone here?" He whispered.

Rue raced through the thick forest, glancing behind him to check if everyone was following.

"Right." Rue heard the dogs in the distance. "All of you, follow me!" He said, he started to walk towards a thick part of the forest.

"Willow!" Rue said happily. He smiled. "Who's he?" Rue asked, looking at Ghost.

Rue heard the dogs. He looked around frantically for Willow.

Rue stood up, his injury had healed a little.

Rue looked at Hinda. "I'll just have to do my best." He said. "I'll protect all of you. And that's a promise." Rue wasn't going to let Freddy down. He promised he'd protect the herd, and that's exactly what he's going to do.

Rue sighed.

"Nothing much." Rue said. "He said he wanted me to take his place as leader of the herd...."

(He walked up to her and asked "What had to be important?", because that was the only thing he heard. :P )

"What 'had to be important'?" Rue asked, he looked at Willow.

Rue stood up. He walked over to Hinda, Willow, Red and Flame.

"He.....died...." Rue said sadly, he held in his tears.

"Without Freddy, who will lead the herd?" Rue said.
