I found a breeder directory for breeders in Ireland:
http://www.irishfowl.com/irish-poultry-breeders.php?q=minorc&name=Minorca
I searched by breed and that's the list that comes up when you click on Minorca
The Poultry Club of Great Britain...
I looked hard. I'll keep trying to find different ways to search and let you know if I come up with anything. =)
YW; I'd like to see them myself, maybe even get some. ;)
Yeah, we're getting a bunch of pullets and several cockerels in black, and my DD wants to get some bantams (including a few Cochin girls) for her bantam Cochin roo.
I've never heard of white Minorca
I'm still working on getting them; looks like I'm going to have to wait until January.
But the girls I have are slowing down. Less daylight and it's been overcast here. I expect them to pick up now that the cold front has moved through and it's been sunny for two days straight.
We name most of ours too. I try not to name males, in case they end up going to freezer camp. I do like Charlemagne as a rooster's name. =)
I'm looking at getting some from Murray McMurray or Stromburg's. They're the only two places we have found black Minorcas. Meyers has buff Minorcas, but...
Pickled eggs, something you only find in the South!!!
I have had white Leghorns (great layers), and my gold Comets are part RIR (also great layers, and I can control the broodiness of the ones that are prone in that direction).
We're going to get Minorcas, and I'm so glad to hear that they...
Sounds like you know your stuff!!! And that you know what you want.
IDK enough about this all.
We're getting black Minorcas (SC, I think). We're looking for egg producers that won't go broody and are intelligent, friendly, etc. We'll be careful to breed to standard, like you said. DH and I...
We're trying to get out of the habit of naming chickens (getting several of the same breed at the same time should help).
I hope I get some chickens that are as good as your El Cid. =)
Thanks for the info. Thank you for the welcome. :) I agree they are majestic looking birds. Your "old man" is beautiful! It's El Cid a Spanish name/word?
