Just be patient . I set my eggs on the 15th. The last OE that hatched was a surprise. I thought I was done, then I found him after I got home from work yesterday. Of all the eggs that hatched, I only saw movement in one egg when I candled before putting them in lock down. The others, the...

I think my hatch is complete. They started to hatch Wednesday night. Here are some pics. I had five Silkies, three EE/OEs, and one Cream Legbar - my first ever. Of 11 that went to lockdown, 9 hatched. This was from a total of 27 eggs, half were shipped eggs. Of the 13 shipped eggs, only...

Frankensusan, I would up the humidity to slow down the weight loss. I weighed my eggs and monitored the weight loss the first time I incubated, and had a 87% hatch rate with local eggs. This time, I'm not weighing the eggs anymore, but just eyeballing the size of the air sac and adjusting...

Half way to lock down. My shipped eggs aren't doing well, but the local eggs are doing much better. A bit bummed about the Basque eggs that didn't developed, but I am getting more. Hopefully the next set will do better.

No, you are not crazy, just a typical chicken owner. :D I missed the recent meet-up too. It conflicted with a family get-together so I couldn't go. Maybe there will be another one in April. We could show off our new chicks then?

. Nope it is not time to candle yet. The first time I hatch, I candled after four days, and every day after that! BTW, I am in S.D. too.

I set 20 eggs on the 15th, and five on the 16th. I have seven Basques, six cream legbars, seven EEs (possibly lav ams), and seven Silkies. Here they are. I thought I had only 25, but just recounted. 27 total, lol. The Silkies may not be fertile, but we'll know when I candle next week. Half...
