I just got more BCM and ACD so I should be good. The mutts and your gals are supporting the RSLs right now.

Your OE girl lays a smooth olive, mine lays speckled olive. Both cool looking eggs!

Yeah, no kidding...this is a BCM, Appenzeller Spitzhauben, AM and OE and none look right.

So please help me with this. If I bred a true breeding laced bird that met Ameraucana specifications other than color, I could call it a non-recognized variety? And if popular, I could apply for APA recognition and could show as Ameraucana regardless? I bred some lovely black laced birds last...

The reason for the 50% is that some color genetics are complex enough that breeding two of the same may result in three colors (or even more). Blue is one such color, from what I understand. Two blues bred together should hatch out at least half blues. Other colors should yield 100% the same...

That makes me feel much better. I stopped breeding my own birds for anything other than fun colors and blue eggs as it's much easier to create great EEs than great Ameraucanas. I really like the handful of standard-breds I do have, and if I raise a great cockerel from next year's shipped eggs...

Many of my recently departed EE and Ameraucana roosters had terrible crows compared to other breeds. And I had more than 30 in the grow out pen, so they never shut up. They are very quiet now.

There are so many colors and patterns that would look lovely with beards and muffs. Playing around with my flock genetics over the last few years, I did develop some lovely laced EEs but they all had the gypsy head. I also had feather footed EEs. Pretty, but I was looking for different...

I suppose @waddles99 was fortunate enough to be born with all the knowledge that exists of what is and what is not an Ameraucana. The rest of us learn by asking questions, exchanging photos, and discussing our birds. And yes, some birds are found not to be Ameraucanas. Since a breed is...

How about this boy? His tail has been plucked by a couple of crabby old hens. He's about 5 months old. Sorry, I see I need to clean my phone camera lens.

Check with your local game officials on "predators doing or about to do damage" to livestock, and then check your local firearms laws. If you are not able to dispatch the predator by the most efficient method, a wildlife trapper can remove those that are around right now. You will need to...

I am so sorry. I had a major devastation a few years ago. I am not sure what is worse, gathering and helping the injured and traumatized survivors or dealing with the dead. I hope you find out what it was and eliminate future risk. Look for fur, footprints, bite marks, etc. Photograph the...

They are strikingly colored, beautiful Easter Eggers. I have a blue laced roo with straw leakage, and two blue/red laced roos and a hen like yours here. Your hen is a very pretty color with the dark beard.
