    Egg candling confusion

When I did my, "First time hatchers hatch-A-long," I posted the thread, told what I was incubating, what bator I was using, how many eggs etc. All the details about my hatch, then asked others to share their hatches and post photo's. Fairly easy, I don't think theres a lot of rules. 😂

    Egg candling confusion

Totally. I would be interested to follow a hatch-A-long or post about your learning curb. I'll never incubate reptiles, but it would be very interesting to see canceling photos, and lastly hatched eggs.

    Egg candling confusion

I'm not sure. What do reptile eggs require? If they just need a different temperature then I'm sure you could program the NR360 to incubate at that temp, and then my only question would be turning. Do you need to be turned like chicken eggs??? You can always take the turner out if they don't or...

    Egg candling confusion

Your definitely right! I've learned, don't buy shipped eggs unless they're for a broody, don't count on a cardboard brooder to protect chick from dogs, and much more. You have a very good way of putting it. Well maybe you'll get a pare and be able to breed them. I got Silkies because I heard...

What about you? What breeds would you have to work with if you started a flock business?

    Egg candling confusion

Totally! Gotta start some where. Right now I have 1 bird from each of the following breeds lol! I was going for at least a pair of each breed, but hatch rates and casualties didn't let that happen for me. I have 1 Blue bantam Silkie, 1 Gray Japanese bantam, 1 Red Laced White Cornish bantam, and...

    Egg candling confusion

I've always been interested in sex-linking haha. I know its simple, and the breeds to do so aren't hard to find. I think I might expand my horizons to Sex-linking next year if the "business" gets enough customers.

    Egg candling confusion

I know I would have rather bought locally, especially since you get to see the farm, the birds etc. I hope someday I can work up to something profitable, I definitely wouldn't have a problem with incubating a lot of bantams lol! :D

    Egg candling confusion

I think it'll defiantly be a fun project, it will help with the cost of the All natural and possibly Organic feed I'm buying them lol! I mostly just love incubating, and was at a loss when I couldn't find any local, breeders myself who sold bantams and had to buy shipped eggs. I think it will...

    Egg candling confusion

I do want to do some kind of small scale "business" next year when my bantams start laying. All of the local breeders don't sell bantams, so if I work along with a friend of mine who can take over the "business" in her incubator when I'm on vacation, she can do the standard breeding, and I can...

    Egg candling confusion

I love incubating! Its definitely my favorite. The sound of the bator, and the responsibility is amazing. Nothing will ever replace a broody though. I have half these eggs under the broody, same batch, shipped in the same box from the same farm. All were stored the same after shipment, and...

    Egg candling confusion

I'm crossing my fingers for you! :fl Hmm, thats tricky. Who knows how good of a job that other duck did, and were these people got the eggs from in the first place. Candle when it gets dark and see if you can see veins. If not, and no movement, post photos in another thread for other members to...

    Egg candling confusion

Do you see any veining or movement? The guy told you they should hatch any day? Does that mean they were already being incubated when you bought them? Was this duck separated from the others, or did the drake and other hens have access to her nest?

    Egg candling confusion

I've done 4 clutches in the incubator so far. My first 2 clutches I got 0 to hatch haha, likely because of shipping and the quality of the eggs. My 3rd clutch, (the one candled in this thread) I got 2 survivors out of 9 set eggs. Oddly, 7 eggs quit on day 6. 🤷‍♀️ Now the clutch of 15 I have, (8...

    Egg candling confusion

One chick just ended up being bigger lol! they hatched on the same day, and Egg 6 did hatch first but everything wen't as planned. PB, who hatched from egg 6 is sadly deceased. 😔 A dog got to her, and she was gone before I could do anything. Jay is doing well though, a 6 week old Cockerel and...

    Egg candling confusion

I just candled again for the photos, and it they don't look quite as far apart as I thought. I am horrible at taking candling photos though, I can never get a good one lol! The second candling made them look more similar then I thought, so now this is kinda just double checking. Egg 6 above...

    Egg candling confusion

Hey guys! Today is day 15 of incubation, with two surviving eggs. I candled both today, and veins are present, with a noticeable dark mass in the egg, and plenty of twitching movements. ☺️ Both are a live and well, but egg 9 looks to be on day 15, were egg 6 looks to be farther along? The dark...
