    Prolapsed vent

Every situation is different. Depends on the severity of the prolapse, whether or not there was damage, if the hen has recovered/no more prolapse, she's able to eat/drink on her own - defend herself, etc. Some hens can be put back with the flock within a day or so. Others may need time to...

    Prolapsed vent

You may need to crate her inside the run for a few days...it really depends on your flock. I know my birds can be pretty brutal to anyone new, but some folks have no problems.

She's pooping o.k.? Eating/drinking, alert, walking around o.k.? If she is, then I think I would slowly introduce her back and see how she does.

Can you get photos of what it looks like now?

The others may accept her back no problem, but often you may have to re-introduce one once they have been gone.

It may be painful, so that's why she's getting ticked off. I've never has ISA Browns, sometimes production birds can start to have reproductive problems since they are really churning out the eggs. It stinks.

Yes, the tissue needs to be all the way back in before you let her with the others. The other girls may peck at it which will damage the tissue. Keep the tissue moist with ointment or cream. Sometimes it takes a while for the swelling to go down, so just continue to do what you're doing. If...

Can you get some photos of what it looks like now? Good call on the soaking. Letting her outside for a while is a nice break for you both.

Are you placing her in tote for soaking? The floor of that may be a bit slippery. A small liner or even an old hand towel in the bottom may make her feel more secure.

I would give her a few more days. I'm still thinking that tissue may need to come out or it may finally come off. If she's eating/drinking, alert and doesn't seem to be in pain, then give her time.

    Prolapsed vent

Pooping is good. Is she lethargic or still in pretty good spirits? I know you feel bad, sometimes things happen when we aren't home, so you do the best you can when you catch it. Keep me posted on how she's doing.

OK, just keep your ointment on there so it all stays moist. It may loosen up with the soakings and ointment. Yes, it makes sense that it feels hardened. I think the vent may have been picked at a bit and damaged. You're doing a good job taking care of her. I know it can be tiring to tend to...

    Prolapsed vent

Sometimes that may be a bit of hardened urates or similar that needs to come out. She's able to poop though right?

Will any of the crusty stuff come out? Have you tried working on that?

    Prolapsed vent

I would just pop the 1/2 aspirin into her beak, she should swallow it, that's what I do. For soaking, I would go for 10-15 minutes, but of course, gauge her response. Sometimes they seem very comfortable in a bath, but if she acts stressed, then use caution and take her out. A tote would...

    Prolapsed vent

You can give her 1/2 of an 81mg aspirin twice a day for up to 3 days. The calcium, I would give once a day for 2-3 days. She very well could prolapse worse if she lays an egg, if she's a good layer, then she may be forming one now. It takes a while for them to stop laying after you start...
