Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water. Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

Will the inside of the coop be dry by morning? I would want it dried before I put any new birds in it.

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

To me, it seems the poor dear is failing. She may perk back up again for a short period of time with fluids, meds, etc. Hard to know. Curling of the toes like that, I've seen this in hens that are still trying to hang in there but they are not long for this world. Personally, I would not...

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

I wouldn't take her off the roost if she put herself up there. They usually get in a position or place where they feel most comfortable. I would try the antibiotic as suggested to see if that helps with infection. I'd also get some extra calcium into her and see that she's drinking well and...

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

Looks like dry skin. I'd apply a touch of vaseline to the comb.

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

Actually I'd be inclined to leave her as is for a while longer since she's doing so well. If you do decide to make some changes to her sleep/wake cycle, then make the change gradual. She's doing really well! I'm glad to see it:)

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

If you feel she's not eating enough on her own, then tube her at least once a day and see how that goes. If needed, go to 2X a day. She's improving! Thank you for the updates.

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

That's what it looks like to me, adjusting the crop. She also "preened" her neck/toward the crop right after an adjustment, so I wonder if it's turning sour or she has some thrush and it's itchy. I've had hens with sour crop that would make a preening action right at the crop and of course the...

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

I'm sorry to hear about Ethel. You have done a wonderful job taking care of her and given her your heart. Thank you for sharing the vet visit with us. Your vet presented his opinion/diagnostics with knowledge and kindness. Only you can make the decision of how to proceed, so give yourself...

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

To me, this is probably a good thing, chickens often sleep with their head tucked under their wing.

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

I think you are doing all you can, just keep it up. You're tube feeding her right? The rolled up towel is a great idea.

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

Giving Vitamin B shouldn't hurt her, B Vitamins are water soluble, so any "excess" is secreted out in the urine. It's hard to overdose on B Vitamins. If you want to give vitamin therapy, I would get a bottle of human B-Complex from Walmart, CVS, etc. and give her 1/4 tablet daily. Since she's...

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

Welcome To BYC If you think the vet will see her, then take along with you and ask for an XRay to rule out any breaks/injuries. Do check to make sure the hen's crop is emptying overnight. Work on hydration and her eating as well. There are many things that can affect chickens. Marek's is...
