They're already so big! We're going to let them out to play in the rain a bit later and I'll definitely take pictures when we do--they already love the mud!
Unfortunately the little one that was hanging on didn't pull through, but we're still so happy to have 8 healthy babies!
Thank you so much! and I'm so glad your little guy pulled through!! ☺️ She's been stretching her neck more so we think she's building her muscle strength!
They did! They were chasing little ants around and it was the cutest thing in the WORLD!
Here's some pictures of the mags and whites! They went on a little adventure to a local fair while waiting on their last two siblings to hatch--they all really loved the sun! :) I'll upload the little east indie in a moment!
Well, we ended up with 8 healthy, happy little babies! 3 whites, 3 magpies, 2 mag/white crosses, and 1 happy little black east indie! :)
There's one little lady that's struggling a bit--she's a beautiful magpie/black indie cross, but she appears to be blind in both eyes and has a bit of wry...
Candled again today--saw movement from all but one, but that one is a black east indie and has a lot of pigment going on with the shell, so here's hoping it was wiggling and I just couldn't see it!
Had a big scare today when a hamper fell on top of the incubator and jostled the eggs--but after candling a few hours later, everyone's still moving! ☺️
Oh goodness, I knew I was forgetting something. I was so distracted with sanitizing like crazy that I forgot to candle before I set them! You think I should wait a few days now that they're set, or grab them now?
Eggs are here! They're sitting for 24 hours before I set them in the incubator. :) We ended up with only 2 of the black indies, but the breeder gave me extra whites and magpies to make up for it--16 eggs total!
Well, I don't get the eggs until Friday, but I'm so excited over my very very first batch of duck eggs that I'm making the thread now! 😄
I'm purchasing 4 white, 4 magpie, and 4 black indie call ducks from a local vet who seems very passionate about their birds! I already have the incubator...
