im sure that most of the time they are roosters because they probably have a bunch leftover that are never bought and they dont want to just throw them out.
i had a chick who i thought was going to die so i called the hatchery and they said you can give them a few drops of honey and water after you give them the honey and it should help.
im sorry for your loss! i have never had a chick die but im sure it is very hard.

i got a free chick from MM and it looked just like the black 1 and i had already had a barred rock in my order and it liked just like her, but as they grew up i found out it was a cuckoo maran, so it MIGHT be a maran...they are very cute!!!
i have we live 30 min. from them and i only wanted 10 or so chicks and it turns out if you pick them up 10 is the minimum! so we did...they are all healthy and growing very fast. we ended op ordering 11 but we got 12 because of the free chick it was a barred rock
