I have one blue Isbar baby that has a tuft on its head! I was told they are not pure Isbars, but they look identical to all the pictures that I can find of young Isbars and the parents also have all the characteristics of Isbars. I guess I will never know.

Wow! Those brahman/Isbars are colorful - love them. I should share some pics of my splash Isbar crosses! I think they are gorgeous!!! I KNOW dad is my splash Isbar. Mom is one of my big brown egg layers (black copper marans, blue laced red wyandotte, light brahma, speckled sussex, RIR, or my ...

Nope. I was hatching only Isbar (or what I thought were Isbar) chicks. I currently have some Lemon Cuckoo Orphington x Pure Ameracauna and they are the fluffiest, cutest things I've ever hatched! (I'm doing an olive egger project). I think they should be called "super puffs"! Chicken genetics...

I sure did - thanks so much for trying to help. I appreciate it - it is really frustrating. I am just wondering what on earth they are. I still have not had a chance to look up the person I purchased the eggs from. The only other rooster she was out with before the Isbar was my sterile Cream...

No, I only have 4 roosters and the Isbar was the only one out with the hens during that time. The others have their own indoor/outdoor pens where they stay safely away from the hens. No one around here has any chickens. I DO have about 50 guinea fowl, but I seriously doubt that was a factor...

OK. I was finally able to snap a few pictures of my Isbar babies today. They are a few weeks old now. These are the babies out of my spalsh Isbar hen and my splash Isbar rooster. They were able to enjoy some outdoor play time today and really liked playing around my coop cleaning tools for some...

So glad things went better for you this time. It is nerve-wracking enough for me when I am hatching my OWN eggs - I can't imagine doing it for someone else. I would be a worried mess :) Great job!

No, I didn't have any problems with their combs freezing. I use heat emitters in the winter when it is cold. I do have one pen that I don't heat and my lemon cuckoo orphington is in there - he did have a tiny bit of frostbite on his comb. Also, my Cream Legbar rooster had a bit of frostbite but...

No, I sold the black last year. The only adults I have here are the splash rooster and the splash hen. I have not had a chance to get pics of the babies today. Too much going on! Angela

Here are pictures of the parents of my Isbar chicks. There are some pics of them when they were babies on up to when they are grown. I did not feel like they are poor quality. They are very healthy and have never been sick or even acted ill. They free range all day and eat an all natural food. I...

Very good question! I don't know. Yes, both rooster and hen were/are splash. 2 of the chicks I hatched are splash. I had heard the same thing - that they would most likely be all splash or majority splash. I think that 3 are blue and 2 are black. I will try to get pics of them tomorrow - I will...

Oh wow! Well, that makes sense then with some people having trouble with hatches. Mine seem pretty hardy. My hen can be a bit "flighty" though. I'm not sure why she is more skittish than all my other girls. Angela

That is odd. I have never had problems like that when hatching Isbars but I haven't hatched a huge amount of them. This year, I have hatched the second batch of my own pure Isbars and they did really well. I've had 2, 100% hatches - one from shipped eggs and this year from my own eggs. They are...

Very interesting! Not one of them have a dot on their heads..... I am really thinking that he may be sterile - is that possible? I tried breeding him with my cream legbar hen last year and all the babies were from my ameracana rooster! I've seen him mating with the hens so who knows. Its only...

Fingers crossed that you have lost that bad stuff forever! Incidentally, 4 of my classroom eggs hatched last night and today and a 5th was is making an attempt. They are ALL darker colored so I am relatively sure that my splash Isbar rooster is the father. The only other option was my Cream...

Congratulations! That is so exciting. I hope I can set a few eggs from my Isbars soon. I just have one hen and one rooster - both are splash colored. I need to put them together in an isolated pen for a few weeks so I know they will be pure Isbar (I also have a cream legbar rooster out with the...

I can see the picture just fine. Congratulations and happy new year! My splash hen has finally gotten to lay eggs with the speckles on them. At first they were just a nice green. I have her out with my flock and my splash rooster and cream legbar rooster take care of them. I need to put her...
