How do you show them? I think that for this winter I will go the route of one of the submersible heaters and the bucket-pie tin route, but once I get chicks I may want to have them on nipple waterers to keep the water and brooder clean, and may transition my birds then.
I've seen one done with a 5 gallon bucket and a pie tin that seems lie it would be good. Cut little holes near the bottom of the bucket and fill with water. Attach pie tin. Instant waterer.
The only parts of that paragraph that I understand are 'outlets' and 'licensed electrician'. Yeah....I don't think that my parents are paying anyone to make our chicken coop electric. I wish!
I will see how they use a large water bowl weighed down with a rock. Hopefully they will not walk into it. Good that beards/muffs aren't an issue. :oops: I was thinking that I'd run extension cords up the yard...I have no idea how to wire a coop to be safely powered.

It is cooling down and I am starting to look at options to use to water my chickens in the winter without freezing. I need one that is pretty deep and also heavy enough that they can't knock it over. Battery operated would be great but I can run extension cords.
